How To Be A Successful Blogger - Our Ultimate Workflow
Alejandro, from Youtube’s Your Review Central, recently asked me for some pointers about blogging and I figured it would probably be beneficial to show you our workflow and also the tools we use to make this process not only manageable but also worth it.
The combination of our blog and our YouTube channel has been quite a surprising new venture for 2023. To be fair, we had this blog for many years before in the travel niche with less than 100 backlinks, driving the traffic from our Instagram channel and also from a few top searched hotel reviews we had published over the years.
The main thing to remember is that even if you think it’s a waste of time or you’re not having instant success; having extra content online with your links is always a good thing.
This is our step by step process for blog management that has and is still working for us:
THE WEBSITE
Use a general domain. It really doesn’t matter what it is but obviously do not go niche as you will have a varied catalogued of products.
We use Squarespace (Use code W12C20 for 20% Off) but of course many use Wordpress (we used to as well but I can’t be bothered any more fiddling around with 1000’s of plugins, javascript and its database structure).
Make your design multi-display friendly, fast loading ( do not overload with apps, heavy images and code).
Use a simple color scheme with high contrast sections for easy navigating.
CREATING CONTENT
Each blog post will be a single page. Treat it as a sole selling page. 99.9% of people will be on that specific product review page and never look or search the rest of your site.
Search your product by title, category or search terms within Google Trends. Look for top and rising search terms for your product.
Use a fun/inquisitive/provocative title with the name of the product and the appropriate search terms found on Google Trends.
Don’t forget your disclaimer (we have it before and after the review just got be safe).
Take your Amazon review video and upload it to Youtube (use all of the tags, description and linking strategies based on your research.
Don’t forget to add your links to the beginning and the end of your post.
Add alternative tags to your images
Use your found search terms within the tags for your post and images.
Go to ChatGPT and ask the following prompt with your variations:
You are a prolific blog writer that focuses on marketing and sales.
You will be writing a blog post about a product. The goal is to talk about the features and benefits of the product. You must use sales tactics to write about the product to entice readers to make a purchase.
The product is: (INSERT HERE THE AMAZON PRODUCT NAME AS IT IS ON AMAZON)
You will use the following keywords to write the blog post.
Keywords to use: (INSERT THE GOOGLE TRENDS SEARCH TERMS YOU FOUND)
The blog post must have at least 1000 words and have sections.
Use casual but smart language throughout the post.
You must also come up with an enticing title for the blog post.
JUST BEFORE PUBLISHING…
Make sure to use HEADING 1, 2 and 3 for various titles and sub sections
Go over the formatting of your article and make sure it flows and is easy to skim through.
Use your Youtube/AMZ Review thumbnail as your blog post’s main picture.
If you have different categories within all of your reviews, tag the correct category. If you don’t, just use a category such as “reviews” or “shopping”.
If you can, use an Amazon plugin to easily insert Amazon’s product image and link with your affiliate (as see on the image) - all you need is the ASIN and the plugin does the rest.
RINSE & REPEAT
Regardless of your blog's scale, its primary strength lies in effectively optimizing post titles for search engine indexing. This strategic approach significantly increases the likelihood that potential customers will discover your product reviews and videos during their pre-purchase research. Since initiating our content strategy in July 2023, following the above tips, we've observed tangible results: our posts now prominently appear in Google searches related to the products we cover. Currently, our focus is less on acquiring backlinks and more on ensuring comprehensive indexing of all our content, as we believe this to be crucial for our blog's visibility and reach at this stage.
Start one review at a time and build your catalogue so that these reviews pay dividends in months and years to come.
